What is the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)? The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian-wide funding scheme that was established in 2013 and was implemented entirely in 2020. This provides funding to all Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and substantial disability so they spend more time with family and friends, gain greater independence, gain access to new skills and jobs, volunteer in their community, and live a normal life. The scheme puts the person with a disability at the centre of their financing by allowing them choice and control over how they spend their funds. The funding provided by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) currently allows over 500,000 Australians with disabilities to obtain the services and assistance they require. To ensure its success and sustainability, the NDIS is being implemented in stages across Australia. Where Care Comes First
We are one of Australia's leading NDIS-accredited providers of allied health services to children and adults with disabilities.
What is Allied Health?
Have you ever wondered why a wide range of professions such as Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Behaviour Therapy and others are referred to as "allied health"? We've all heard of the phrase, but what does it mean? Whom and how are they "allied" with?
So, what advantages do allied health services provide? Here are the main reasons why allied health care is advantageous to both people and broader society
The term "allied health" refers to a broad spectrum of medical specialists who are trained to treat a wide variety of illnesses and disorders. According to Allied Health Professions Australia, allied health professionals are highly qualified, university-trained specialists in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of disorders and illnesses who are outside of the medical, dental, or nursing professions. They are respected professionals who are known for playing a crucial role in the Australian healthcare system. They work with physicians, medical professionals, nurses, midwives, or dentists in delivering diagnostic, technical, therapeutic, and direct health services to identify the best options to treat the client. Workers in the allied healthcare sector make up more than a quarter of the entire healthcare workforce in Australia and provide an estimated 200 million healthcare services.
